Global Warming is one of the great challenges of this generation, and we must address it with bold action now. I am an optimist. I believe that instead of confronting this challenge with fear, we have reason to hope. I believe we can solve this problem, and that in doing so we will be better for it in every way. There is much to gain in our efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Boosting energy efficiency puts money back in consumers’ pockets, while reducing the demand for new electric power plants, and makes the air we breathe cleaner. Renewable energy sources like cellulosic ethanol and wind and solar power can make us more energy independent, boost economic growth, help clean the air and fight global warming.
As we meet this challenge, new technologies will be invented and we will export those to the world. Jobs will be created and new technologies will improve our lives. The great genius of American entrepreneurship will rise to the challenge.
It’s once again our turn to stand up and lead this greatest country on earth to a bright future that will energize our people here at home and the whole world.
