Former Congressman Christopher Shays (R-CT)
- Location: CT 06604

I believe protecting the environment is one of the most important jobs I have as a Member of Congress. There is no doubt in my mind that global warming is happening and that man is contributing to it. Now, it is our responsibility to work to mitigate the impacts of potentially catastrophic climate change. We simply will not have a world to live in if we continue our neglectful ways. I believe, as do many of my colleagues in Congress, that climate change is currently one of the most important issues the global community faces. The most efficient way to solve this global problem is by coordinating the efforts of businesses, scientists, students, and policy-makers. Global warming poses a very real threat to our nation and the rest of the world. We must all work together to create a coalition of people willing to take the challenge of climate change seriously and toward charting a new, more responsible course on climate policy.
