The Stop Global Warming Virtual March is a non-political effort to declare that global warming is here now and it’s time to act.
This is a movement about change, as individuals, as a country, and as a global community.

Larry Schweiger

I was born in Pittsburgh, Pa, in a time when it was one of the most polluted cities in America. I learned first hand that dramatic change is possible as Pittsburgh is now a clean center of high-tech and medical research.

As a result of family influence, I’ve been a conservationist most of my life. I’ve spent over four decades protecting wildlife and wild places, fighting alongside of some great environmentalists to clean up polluted waters in my home state and alongside of fellow sportsmen and women to protect vital wetlands and other important habitats like the Chesapeake Bay and the Great Lakes.

Today, I see a much more urgent problem we must solve if we hope to leave our children with a better future: global warming.

Where a decade ago scientists talked of “future” global warming, today we see the effects global warming is having on people and wildlife right here at home. We can and must take steps now to cut emissions of carbon dioxide and other heat-trapping gases that are building up at levels and at a pace never experienced in over 650,000 years. We can do it by developing a new and secure energy future that frees us from dwindling supplies of fossil fuel, and gives us renewable energy alternatives that create jobs and strengthen our nation’s economy.

We owe it to our children to confront global warming today.
