Catastrophic climate change is looming on the horizon and we must act now. The dinosaurs had primacy on this earth for 400 million years. They had prodigious bodies, but their limited intellect prevented them from adapting to the changing environmental conditions that led to their extinction. Human beings have prodigious cognitive and technological skills, but flawed emotional systems. Greed, rabid nationalism, religious fanaticism and emotional illness blind us to the suicidal path that global warming has led us to. When I was a child, I asked my father what role he had played in WWII to defend the world against the threat of a fascist dictatorship. Our children will rightly ask us what role we played in the fight against global warming which could make our species extinct.
