Join the 1,467,309 supporters of the Stop Global Warming Virtual March, and become part of the movement to demand our leaders freeze and reduce carbon dioxide emissions now. We are all contributors to global warming and we all need to be part of the solution.

The Stop Global Warming Virtual March is a non-political effort to declare that global warming is here now and it’s time to act.
This is a movement about change, as individuals, as a country, and as a global community.

Global Exchange

July 2005, a heat wave in Arizona kills 34; August, September, October 2005,
three of the strongest hurricanes in history, Hurricane Katrina, Rita and
Wilma, destroy thousands of lives and cost billions in damages; October
2005, 2000 American soldiers killed in the Iraq war; November 2005 oil
prices reach record highs; January 2006, President Bush admits America’s
addiction to oil is a serious problem.

The combination of recent destruction and death caused by extreme weather,
the ongoing deadly and costly war in Iraq, and rising prices at the pump
have and must be a tipping point, the point at which for many Americans
globally warming ceases to be simply a scientific topic and instead becomes
something real, something that hits close to home, and something that we can
no longer ignore. More and more we need to realize that in order to protect
our climate and prevent the disastrous social and environmental effects of
global warming we must break our destructive and dangerous dependence on
fossil fuels and act TODAY.

While we are already experiencing the effects of global warming from human
activity today, our collective failure to act today is going to effect
future generations far more severely. It is tomorrow’s leaders, CEO’s,
revolutionary and radicals that are going to face the brunt of what global
warming has in store for the planet. We need to head the call of the 400
young people that gathered at the UN Climate Negotiations in Montreal still
rings in my ear, “Stop asking how much it is costing you, and start asking
how much it is costing us.”

Global Exchange, a membership-based international human rights organization
dedicated to promoting social, economic and environmental justice around the
world since our founding in 1988 is pleased to join with the millions of
people marching around the world to push for drastic and immediate action to
stop human-induced global warming. We are committed to raising the stories
of those most affected by global warming, and in developing programs that
seek to get our nation to declare its independence from oil.

Let’s get moving people!!!
