Mr. Luna’s Bright Idea
- Location:
- Marching Since: March 23, 2006
My students and I are marching because we care about our future. That’s what this whole fight against global warming is really about. It’s a fight for our very own children’s future.
So far, my students have launched a campaign called “Mr. Luna’s Bright Idea!” to ask Oprah to help us give every child in
America just one compact fluorescent light bulb. To kick it off in our hometown of North Babylon we began by holding raffles, pretzels sales, selling paper light bulbs for our future, and hosting a charity basketball game to raise the funds necessary to purchase one light bulb for every kid in North Babylon (Prek-12). In the end, The Home Depot and Technical Consumer Products were incredibly generous and announced at our press conference that they were going to actually donate the light bulbs for every
kid in North Babylon so that the money could be used for our children. We wish to thank them right here, ask every school district in America to join us on the “Virtual March”, and restate our plea to Oprah to help us give every child in America a CFL bulb! –Mr. L
