Post Carbon Institute
- Marching Since: April 04, 2006
Climate change as a result of global over-reliance on cheap energy is one of
the most pressing concerns our world faces today. The intensification of
tropical storms, sea level rise as a result of melting continental ice
sheets and thermal expansion, desertification and the spread of tropical
disease are some of the many challenges posed by climate change.
The primary force driving climate change is global over-reliance on cheap
fossil fuel energy. The combustion of fossil fuels to satisfy human over
consumption, distorts the global carbon cycle to such a degree that the very
foundation of human and eco-systemic survival is threatened.
Our main response to the challenges of climate change is the strategy of
Relocalization, which aims to rebuild societies based on the local
production of food and energy, and the Relocalization of currency,
governance and culture. The main goals of Relocalization are to increase
community energy security, strengthen local economies, and dramatically
improve environmental conditions and social equity.
Post Carbon Institute supports and partners with initiatives that are
working to stop climate change and mitigate the effects that have affected
humans all across the globe. This work can only be successfully achieved
through global partnership. Collaboration and cooperation is the best method
to stop global warming and we urge others to join this virtual march.
