The Aspen Global Warming Alliance
- Location: CO
- Marching Since: September 07, 2005
Shorter, warmer winters, reduced snowpack, less water available in summer, increasing forest fires. We’ve already seen these changes beginning in Aspen, and greater changes are on the way. The natural environment is Aspen’s industry, so these changes will not only impact our lifestyles but our livelihoods as well. On a global scale, our dependence on outdated technologies and fossil fuels will impact our national security and prosperity>
In Aspen we acknowledge that global warming is our problem, but we also recognize that it’s also our opportunity. We are learning from the community and corporate success stories around the country that reducing global warming pollutants also leads to a safer, cleaner more productive community. We have challenged ourselves to reduce our global warming pollutants at home and at work. We are engaging elected officials, community leaders, and the youth to rise to the challenge. As we find the ways that work, we can reach out to other communities, with the goal of hastening the transition to a new, cleaner energy system that does not threaten our environment, our economy, and our way of life.
With the ski industry and our town’s economy on the front lines of climate change, it’s the least we can do. Let’s roll.
