The Interfaith Power and Light
- Location: CA
- Marching Since: September 07, 2005
Global warming is one of the gravest threats to God’s Creation. As people of faith, we are called to be stewards of Creation. We must take responsibility for our actions and work together for this beautiful world filled with grace and wonder.>
The Regeneration Project (TRP) is helping the faith community make the link between religious responsibility and ecological stewardship. Through our Interfaith Power and Light (IPL) program we are working to mobilize a religious response to global warming and to promote renewable energy, energy efficiency and conservation. We currently have IPL programs in 17 states and the greater Washington DC area. The congregations that join state IPLs agree to practice and teach energy efficiency, conservation and, where possible, to use renewable energy.
As a national interfaith movement, we’ve joined the march because it’s time to let our elected officials know that we are holding them accountable. Policy to take action against global warming and its destruction of God’s Creation is long overdue. A transition to clean and healthy ways of generating energy is not only a way to create jobs and save money, but also an essential part of saving Creation and remaining true to the basic tenets of many faith traditions.
