The Rainforest Alliance
- Location:
- Marching Since: October 30, 2005
Since 1987, the Rainforest Alliance has been pioneering creative, market-based solutions to deforestation. Our mission is to protect ecosystems and the people and wildlife that depend on them by transforming land-use practices, business practices and consumer behavior.
The Rainforest Alliance knows that the health and welfare of individuals, communities and wildlife are inextricably linked to the health of the Earth¹s diverse landscapes and natural resources. These are under constant assault by a growing human population and its material demands. Global warming is increasingly changing the world around us, threatening the survival of thousands species, including our own. The Rainforest Alliance works to conserve carbon-storing forests around the world, but we know that stemming the loss of forests is not enough to curb the effects of global warming, and that action must be taken to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
We add our voice to the thousands that have already joined the Virtual March on Washington D.C. to Stop Global Warming, because we believe that we have a collective responsibility to be environmental stewards and that positive change and success result only from collaborative action.
