The threats from global warming are very real, and our oceans and coasts are at great risk due to massive changes in the world’s climate. Coastal communities throughout the world face flooding and inundation by the rising sea. Marine ecosystems are being impacted and will be under further threat as temperatures and sea levels continue to rise. There is increasing evidence that storms will get stronger and more frequent, causing additional damage and loss of life. >
The Surfrider Foundation is a non-profit grassroots organization dedicated to the protection and preservation of our world’s oceans, waves and beaches. Founded in 1984 by a handful of visionary surfers, the Foundation now maintains over 40,000 members and 60 chapters across the United States and Puerto Rico. As advocates for the coast we have an obligation to bring these issues to the immediate attention of our political leaders. Join us and stopglobalwarming.org today to help make a difference not only for our oceans, waves and beaches but for the world as a whole.
